Why can't my regular veterinarian do this for me?

Dr. Thomas offers his services in reproduction as an extension of your regular veterinarian's care. The reproductive specialty service is here to supplement, not to replace, your veterinarian's care.

Occasionally there are cases that are refractory to normal treatment modalities.  In these cases referral to a specialist is in the best interest for your animal.  There are also times when your veterinarian my not have the advanced equipment necessary for a procedure.   Dr. Thomas tries very hard to stay on the cutting edge by having equipment such as liquid nitrogen, embryo microscopes, and ultrasound available.

Communication with the owner and the referring veterinarian is an essential part of our service. Your veterinarian will receive phone calls and written reports about the diagnosis   procedures, prognosis, aftercare and medications recommended. Your animal will return to the care of your veterinarian as soon as possible after discharge..

By referring your animal to Dr. Thomas,  your veterinarian is demonstrating the highest  level of care  available.

OK, how do I get referred to Dr. Thomas?

If you would like Dr. Thomas to examine your animal go to our Referral Information Page for instructions.
We may ask you to bring a medical history form, any laboratory tests, and/or x-rays, if they have already been done. This will save time, money, and avoid repetition of tests.

After an examination, we will give you a treatment plan and an estimate of the cost. Please ask questions. It is very important that you understand the plan for treatment, aftercare, and any follow-up visits. It is our goal to provide your animal with the best care while under our care and to provide you with the information you need to continue that care after your animal goes home.

Important: If you are bringing a companion animal there is a possibility that it must be sedated to perform certain tests or x-rays. Because of this we request that you not feed your pet within 12 hours of the appointment.
